Biggest Equestrian Accomplishment:

My career highlight so far would competing and finishing in the top 10 in the 6 Year Old Final at Horse of the Year on KMR Descarado (Leo). Leo is our first homebred baby who I broke in myself at the age of 13 and have produced all the way through. We were competing against New Zealand's best top riders and & up and coming young horses.

What are your goals for the coming season?

My goals for the coming season is to compete in the 7 Year old Series on “KMR Descarado” along with a few Young Rider Classes towards the end of the season. On “Oraha Lilly” we are going to continue jumping in Junior Riders and hoping to also step up to some Young Riders. And last but not least “KMR Delgardo” who I am hoping to step up to some Junior Riders by the end of the season but just planning on taking it slow with him!

The one horse to watch?

One horse to watch of mine is not only the talented “KMR Descarado” but also his equally talented brother “KMR Delgardo” who is very special to me! I saw him two years ago as an emaciated bag of bones in a paddock who didn't have any trust in humans after a bit of a rough start to life and he was on the way to dog tucker. Not sure what it was about him but we "just clicked" and we have always had a very special connection. I have taken my time with him as it has taken a long time for him to fully regain trust in people but he is one of the most talented horses I have ever sat on (aside from his brother) and I am extremely excited for this season to be his first!

Name Four People You Would Invite for Dinner:

I would just invite my family out to dinner as they do so so so much for me and my passion and without them I would be nothing!!

Speaking of Dinner Can you Share a Horse Feeding Tip?

OIL! I love using Dunstan Trifecta Oil and it is the first supplement I recommend to anyone! The horses just thrive on it and always feel amazing!

What do you never leave home without?

Definitely my phone and headphones. I always ride with music as I find I we can get into more of a rhythm together I think it makes me focus better. I'm pretty sure the horses know all the words to top of the charts songs better than me!

So then, What is Your Number One Tip for Travelling Horses?

ELECTROLYTES! Living in Whitianga we have to travel at least 2.5 hours over the winding steep hills to get to the closest show! The horses have to work so hard to stay up and balanced the whole way and especially in the heat of the summer season, keeping them hydrated with electrolytes in their water is a must for our team. You never want to arrive at a show with a tired horse before you've even started competing!

Can you tell us who inspires you?

Samantha McIntosh and the stunning stallion Check In II is a combination who has inspired me and I think a lot of other Kiwi's after their recent successes at the World Equestrian Games - a huge leap for NZ in the world of Show Jumping.

What is your favourite riding accessory?

Jumping boots or exercise bandages for sure. I am a firm believer in the legs being the most important part of the horse, so I'll never get on without jumping boots or exercise bandages protecting their precious legs!

Do you have a good luck charm?

I'm sure its Dunstan Horsefeeds

How did you get started in your equine career?
My equine career began at 2 years old when I inherited my first pony, which was my Mums old 13.1hh 1* eventing mount – “Bosley Bear”! Mum has always had horses so I have grown up around them & they are simply a part of who I am and have always been. I can thank my Mum for kick starting my career at a very young age!
