Dunstan Speedfeed®

  • Dunstan Speedfeed® is a complete Racehorse feed which provides for the nutrient requirements of Racehorses in full work.

Dunstan Speedfeed® is formulated using a highly palatable blend of cereals including Oats, Steam Flaked Maize, Steam Flaked Barley, Steam Flaked Lupins, Sugarbeet, Sunflower Seeds, VegetabIe Oils, and a Vitamin and Mineral pellet.

Oats are a highly digestible grain for horses and as they are combined with Maize and Barley in their heat-treated form, Dunstan Speedfeed® provides a digestible and safe way to feed calorie-dense grains.

Utilising the 'super fibre' sugarbeet as an ingredient is an ideal way to contribute both calories and optimise digestive health. The higher inclusion level of Vegetable Oil in Dunstan Speedfeed® provides a further alternative calorie source to support the energy requirements of the Racehorse.

The high level of Natural Vitamin E combined with the highly bio-available Organic Selenium assist to maintain normal muscle function and together act as antioxidants to protect body tissues from oxidative stress.

The addition of a live yeast aids digestion and will assist in maintaining a more optimal hindgut pH, therefore contributing to the overall health of the intestinal ecosystem of the horse.

Chromium is included in Dunstan Speedfeed® which assists in reducing the build-up of lactic acid in horses undertaking strenuous workloads.

    • The recommended feeding rates for Dunstan Speedfeed® are based on a 500kg horse and are guidelines only. Daily feed amounts will vary depending on pasture availability and body condition. Horses are very much individuals with different metabolic efficiencies, some require a little more, others a little less, for the same level of activity.

    • Ensure adequate fibre intakes by providing 1 %-1 .5% per day of the horse's body weight as chaff, hay, Dunstan Betabeet/Sugarbeet or pasture (on a Dry Matter basis).

    • It is advisable to split the daily hard feed into at least two feeds, preferably 3-4, but feed no more than 2.0 kg of Dunstan Speedfeed® per meal.

    • Always introduce a new feed gradually over a period of 7 – 10 days, working up to the desired feed intake taking into consideration body condition and work level.
    General Notes
Always ensure the horse has access to clean drinking water.

High Copper levels in Dunstan Speedfeed® make it unsuitable for feeding to sheep.
