  • Dunstan Betabeet Flakes provides a quality fibre source to the ration of all horses. In doing so it helps to enhance digestive health by optimising the microbial environment of the hindgut.

    Low in starch and sugar, Dunstan Betabeet Flakes has a number of applications including:
    • Suitable for horses prone to laminitis - not only as it is low in starch and sugar, but it provides valuable fibre to the ration of horses that may have limited pasture access.
    • Provides a ‘cool’ calorie source to the diet and is the ideal feed supplement for horses that get ‘hot’ on grain-based feeds.
    • Has a similar energy contribution per kg to Oats, therefore making it the ideal substitute for performance horses that require an overall reduction of starch in their diets but still have high energy demands.
    • Suitable for horses prone to ‘tying-up’ when a portion of grain can be removed from the diet and replaced with Dunstan Betabeet Flakes.
    Dunstan Betabeet Flakes is high in Calcium, making it an ideal complement to Oats and Bran, helping to balance the diet.

  • Below is a guide for recommended intakes of Dunstan Betabeet Flakes. These are a guide only as intakes will vary depending on body condition and pasture availability.

    Horses require a bare minimum of 1% of their body weight in hay, chaff or pasture daily on a dry matter basis.

    Dunstan Betabeet Flakes, as a quality fibre source, can be used as a fibre replacement when pasture may be limited, therefore greater intakes may be required.

    NOTE: Always ensure Dunstan Betabeet Flakes is fully soaked prior to feeding.

    Easy to use. The only preparation required is the soaking of Dunstan Betabeet Flakes in 5 parts water to 1 part Dunstan Betabeet Flakes ( for example 200 grams of dry Betabeet requires 1 Litre of water to soak)

    Dunstan Betabeet fully soaks in 10mins. Warm water ensures faster soaking.

    This ensures the vitamins included in Dunstan Horsefeeds remains efficacious to ensure optimum equine health.
    However, as is the case with human foods, “fresh is best”. So always aim to feed Dunstan products as fresh as you are able.
