Dunstan Old Horse®

  • Dunstan Old Horse® includes quality, high-fibre and low-GI ingredients (Soya Hulls, Lucerne Meal, Sugarbeet) to produce a low-GI feed ideal for older horses at increased risk of metabolic disorders.

Dunstan Old Horse® includes an elevated protein level with quality protein sources to assist with any reduction in protein digestion due to age.

Includes elevated inclusion level of Natural Vitamin E to support immune function in the older horse. Includes additional Vitamin C to support the older horse where synthesis of Vitamin C may be compromised.

The high-fibre inclusion assists digestion and contributes to daily fibre requirements.

Includes the live yeast, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, which aids digestion, particularly of Phosphorus, which may be impaired in the older horse. In addition, it may assist in maintaining a more optimal hindgut pH, therefore contributing to overall health of the intestinal ecosystem of the horse.

Includes the live yeast, CitriStim®MOS (Pichia guilliermondii) to help support the horse’s natural immune system and boost the natural defences of the horse against health challenges.

Includes a Calcium level and Calcium: Phosphorus ratio appropriate for the unique requirements of the senior horse.

    Ponies1kg-3kg
    Horses 2kg- 5kg
    • The recommended feeding rates for Dunstan Old Horse® are guidelines only. Daily feed amounts will vary depending on pasture availability and body condition.
    • Horses are very much individuals with different metabolic efficiencies, some require a little more, others a little less, for the same level of activity.
    • Ensure adequate fibre intakes by providing 1 % - 1 .5% per day of the horse's body weight as chaff, hay, Dunstan Betabeet/Sugarbeet or pasture (on a Dry Matter basis).
    • It is advisable to split the daily hard-feed into at least two feeds, preferably 3-4, but feed no more than 2.0 kg of Dunstan Old Horse® per meal.
    • Always introduce a new feed gradually over a period of 7 – 10 days, working up to the desired feed intake taking into consideration body condition and work level.

    General Notes
